Intracoastal Waterway Celebration
This signature event is held yearly on Labor Day weekend to celebrate the opening of the final link of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, which took place in 1928. The feature event, sponsored by the North Carolina Pork Association, is the Belhaven Breakwater BBQ Competition. Some of states best competitors will be hoping to walk away with bragging rights. BBQ can be purchased by the public. You won’t leave hungry! Other events include the 1920’s fashion show, vendors, antique cars and boats.
Held the second Saturday in December, the Town of Belhaven comes alive with Christmas. There is a kid’s village where children can sit on Santa’s lap, write letters to Santa and make Christmas crafts. In addition, there is a kids store where children can purchase $1.00 gifts for their parents. The parade is always fun. The day finishes with the Candlelight Tour of Homes.
