The arts are alive in Belhaven! You can see for yourself!
The Belhaven Arts Council is an active group of local artists whose mission is to “advance Belhaven through the arts and creativity”. Local art can be found at Coastal Cottage Life on Haslin Street, Pungo River Boutiques on Allen Street, at Belle Arts Gallery on Pamlico Street, and Sanger Art Studio and Gallery on East Water Street. Paint and Sip art classes are held several times a month at the Sanger Art Studio and Gallery and provide a fun evening for people of all ages!
The Arts of the Pamlico, one of the oldest arts councils in the state, helps bring the “Pickin on the Pungo” Bluegrass Festival to Belhaven every January (except for 2021). The Arts of the Pamlico(AOP) is a vibrant hub or arts and cultural activities for adults and youth. Serving Eastern North Carolina, it is the state-designated arts council for Beaufort and Washington Counties, based in its historic Turnage Theater in downtown Washington. The NC Estuarium in nearby Washington presents exciting exhibits and programs throughout the year for art-lovers of every kind.
It’s not just about the visual arts in Belhaven! Everyone knows the Inner Banks loves music. Join a group of local musicians every Tuesday night (not meeting at this time due to Covid) at Belhaven Main Street Landing for some bluegrass, gospel and country music! Come with your instrument to play or just come to listen and enjoy.
