October is always one of the busiest months in Washington. We’ve picked a few events to feature here, but you can see our entire calendar on our website, www.VisitWashingtonNC.com.
Smoke on the Water is one of the Signature Events held annually in Washington. It returns with much fanfare on October 16th and 17th. Smoke features a BBQ cookoff, chili cook, fire engine pulls, car show, vendors and artists. The Pamlico River proved the perfect spot for dragon boat races last year, and this year the event will grow to 24 teams! While you are in Washington for Smoke on the Water, be sure to take in the Fine Arts Show presented by Arts of the Pamlico. Rounding out the weekend is a featured concert at Festival Park on Sunday. The Time of My Life tour with The Afters, Chris August, and more is presented by the Bridge FM.
What is October without some frightful and spooky Halloween events? The Washington Haunts Ghost Walk is scheduled for October 30th and 31st. The Turnage Theater will host its annual Halloween costume soirée, Terror at the Turnage, on October 30th with a Hitchcock theme. All ages will have a good time at Raised in a Barn Farm. There is a corn maze and Six Nights of Fright.
